Steve Schaprio: Being Everywhere
For six decades, Steve Schapiro was everywhere history happened — camera in hand, capturing the defining faces and flashpoints of modern America. Steve Schapiro: Being Everywhere traces his singular career, from photographing addiction in East Harlem and migrant workers in Arkansas to iconic portraits of Andy Warhol, Muhammad Ali, David Bowie, and Martin Luther King Jr., and searing images of the Civil Rights Movement. In the 1970s he turned his lens to Hollywood, shooting stills for The Godfather and Taxi Driver, before returning to photojournalism and social justice. Filmed shortly before his 2022 death, it’s a dazzling tribute to a true fly-on-the-wall artist.
