The A-Word: The Future of Aging
From filmmakers Greg Kohs and Gary Krieg (The Thinking Game), The A-Word: The Future of Aging follows scientists racing to shift the goal of longevity science from lifespan to health span, anchored by the parallel story of an 87-year-old widower and his rescue dog.
The film centers on Celine Halioua’s pursuit of the first FDA-approved longevity drug (for dogs, at her company Loyal), alongside interviews with pioneering researchers Cynthia Kenyon and Laura Deming. Running alongside the science is the human story of George Betke, whose bond with his aging dog Monica in coastal Maine grounds the film’s larger question: is the goal to add years to life, or life to years?
