Tierney Gearon: The Mother Project
inspirations and unconventional family relationships.
Tierney Gearon’s photographs have been called manipulative, disturbingly ambiguous, even perverse. In 2001, the London police demanded that the Saatchi Gallery, which first showed Tierney’s photos of her young children, take the pictures down. Tierney herself describes her pictures as a form of therapy. Tierney Gearon: The Mother Project—shot over the course of three years—offers an intimate portrait of Tierney at work as she turns her lens on her mentally ill mother. (photographs Tierney Gearon)
