In 2022, the Supreme Court of the United States reversed Roe v. Wade, declaring that the constitutional right to an abortion which had stood for nearly fifty years no longer existed.
At Rossmoor, a senior living community in California, a group of women decided they needed to take action in response to the court’s decision. They told their stories of pre-Roe abortions. Many had never told anyone, even their own families. These stories became the basis for a play that was performed 5 times in February 2023.
Voices interweaves these women’s stories with scenes from the play, amplifying a generation’s experience that shows that yesterday’s fight for freedom of choice is one of today’s most significant battles.
